Day 177 | Cades Cove and Abrams Falls
I was very excited to visit Cades Cove on this leg of our trip. I remember coming here as a kid for birthday parties, youth group events when my dad was a youth minister, and this is also where I saw a group of bear cubs in a tree.
Cades Cove is an area in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. It is a valley where early settlers lived and it provides great opportunity to see wildlife like deer, turkey, and black bear.
I really wanted to see a bear on this trip. We did see a couple, but they were pretty far away on the edge of a field. It was still pretty cool. There is a bear hidden in the grass in the photo below.
Cades Cove also provides several hikes you can take to some of the old houses settlers lived in. We took a five mile (round trip) hike to Abrams Falls. It was such a fun and beautiful hike!
Out in nature is one of my favorite places to be. God’s creation is amazing! From the majestic mountains to the tiny creatures that crawl around, His power, beauty, creativity, and awesomeness is displayed.
It’s amazing to think that He created all of this and yet He knows everything about me, down to the numbers of hairs on my head and every thought in my mind.
I’m thankful for another opportunity to experience His creation.
