Day 138 | Haikus on the Mountain

Adjustments.jpeg

This was the third week in a row that we hiked up and down Mt. Tampa. Today we decided to add some creativity and poetry to the hike. Before we left, I challenged the girls to come up with a Haiku poem about the mountain that we’ve grown to love.

While we were hiking, all five of us decided to make up a Haiku poem. Each one is different and focuses on a unique characteristic of the mountain. The tall trees, the unique bird species, the slippery and rocky paths, and the variety of plants are all special. One of them even includes the legend about how the mountain is shaped like a sleeping dragon waiting to awake from a long nap. Here are the poems we came up with.

The mountain is great
This is how you slip and slide
Lots of sticks and rocks

Above the city
The mountain rises with trees
To the clear blue sky

Stone dragon asleep
It slumbers by the city
Ready to awake
