Days 141 to 147 | Family Olympics

One of my favorite things about the time we’ve had away from the normal busy life is watching my kids dream, be creative, and develop new skills.

Last week, Anna decided to plan and host Family Olympics. She made a sign up sheet, wrote out descriptions and rules for each game, drew out tournament brackets, got all the supplies together, and even made awards for everyone. The games included arm wrestling, singing, house design, card stacking, toss the ball, thumb war, and a scavenger hunt. We played them on Saturday and Sunday and the awards were given out after the last game. It was so fun!

I was so proud of how she kept working on it even when it got hard and tedious. I think she was proud of herself too!

She was detailed and clear in the expectations for each event.

The first event. Card stacking. We were laughing so hard because I was stacking away while everyone else was struggling to get any to stay up. I think we were all surprised that mine was working out…I expected the opposite.

As much as we are thankful for the opportunity to be on this adventure in a new country, we’ve struggled with disappointment and frustration with the fact that we haven’t been able to travel around as much as we hoped. But looking back at these pictures make me even more thankful for this time with my husband and kids no matter where we are. Whether we’re in an apartment in an unfamiliar country, traveling to new and exciting places, or at home, I’m so glad I get to do it with them.
