Days 174 to 175 | Father’s Day in Asheville, North Carolina

Adjustments.jpeg

We spent a day driving to Asheville, North Carolina and spent two nights there, allowing us to have a whole day to celebrate Father’s Day.

There are so many fun things to do in Asheville. We stuck with outdoor activities and were there only one full day, but had so much fun!

Our main destinations were the North Carolina Arboretum and Lake Powhatan. The arboretum was so pretty and had such a variety of things to do and see. They had LEGO sculptures, paths through forest areas, lots of rhododendron and azalea bushes, streams to play in, and a really cool bonsai exhibit. I know there was a lot more that we didn’t get to see.

Arboretums don’t automatically seem like an exciting place to visit, but this one was a great place to be!

We had Chipotle for lunch then walked a short path to Lake Powhatan. This was a small lake that also gave us the chance to get our feet wet.

It’s been so nice to have lots of outdoor things to see and do on our way home!

These girls spent so much time today making future exploration plans. I can just hear their conversation now. I love listening to them dream!

This path had lots of rhododendron and azalea bushes. I had never known them to grow in forest areas like this.

When we decided to drive through and explore the eastern states, I knew that one thing I wanted to do was stick my feet in the crystal clear water. We found a small opening to do that and we didn’t want to miss the chance. It was a little painful on…

Between the arboretum and going to the lake, we ate Chipotle for lunch in the car. She’s waiting for her lunch here and looks so grown up!

On the path to the lake! And more planning and dreaming for future nature hikes!

What a great Father’s Day picture! They love their dad and he loves them! He’s taken care of us and has led us so well on this trip. He is patient, kind, and wants the best for all of us! We are blessed and thankful to have him!

We’re trying to figure out how fast the bottom drops. It’s not as clear as the stream we were at earlier.

We ended the day with a Father’s Day Zoom call! We tried to Zoom from our individual phones/iPads so we wouldn’t have to gather around the same. That doesn’t work. There was so much feedback! We got a good laugh out of it though.

It was so good Zooming with Nathan’s family and talking with my dad. We are thankful for them both! What a great end to the day!
