Days 169 to 170 | A Big Change of Plans
After a good nights sleep in an air conditioned hotel room with comfy beds and fluffy bath towels, we were ready to head off to Greece.
We really enjoyed our time in Romania and were very thankful for such a great city to stay in during COVID-19, but we were really excited to fit in a visit to one more country before heading home after our 180-day journey.
After a short, but awkward taxi ride to the airport (the driver acted like we were crazy for not wanting to walk half a mile in the rain with all our luggage and three kids), we were one step closer to what we had been waiting for. We were super excited, yet still cautious. Even as we walked up to the airport front doors, we told ourselves that it still might not work out for us to go to Greece. Even though we had read about and researched the regulations and rules for weeks and felt confident that the rules were allowing us to go, we knew we had to be ready for anything to happen.
When we arrived in Prague, things got a little complicated again. They would not let us through passport check and they told us we were going to have to stay at the airport overnight. We had reservations at a nearby hotel, but they wouldn’t let us through even for that.
When they said that we would have to stay at the airport, I pictured us having to camp out at a gate for the night. Then they explained there was a hotel in the airport. I was so glad to hear that!
The police brought our luggage to us since we were not allowed to go claim it ourselves, then they walked us to the hotel. We were very thankful to find clean and safe rooms to stay in.
