Day 125 | A Saturday Hike May 1 Written By Rhondalyn Day 125, Brasov We climbed Mt. Tampa again today. We walked up a familiar path then tried a new way down. It was hard, but worth it! Everything is so green and the trees are full now! We’ve taken this path before, but not since spring has come. The girls love to find places they think animals take shelter in. This tree trunk looks like a horse head! Thankfully, the path up has a lot of switchbacks so that the path we walk is not as steep as the actual mountain. A peak of the sky through the trees. The girls found little shortcuts they could practice their climbing skills on! Naomi is making sure Abigail doesn’t fall. She loves to be outside and explore! It’s a bonus if she gets extra dirty:) At the top of Mt. Tampa! It’s always a treat to see a pretty view of Brasov! Tiny wildflowers growing along the path:) So pretty! After walking along the ridge of the mountain, we came to this beautiful view! What goes up, must come down! This felt like the never ending staircase to the bottom of the mountain. The bench was a nice surprise! It was great to take a rest and have a snack! The steps, minus the handrail, seem really old. They remind of something you would see in The Lord of the Rings. Abigail did a great job today! She walked all the way up the mountain (two miles) without being carried at all. She needed some help on the way down, but I’m so proud of her. She’s really grown up on this trip! We’re still going down, but at least the big rocky steps are over. The end of the path is here! It really was a great day, a beautiful hike, and worth all the hard work! Rhondalyn Journey One Eighty welcomes your comments.
