Day 54 | Sperlonga

Day 54, Rome—One of my favorite places to visit is a sandy beach, so when Nathan threw out the idea of going to Sperlonga, an Italian hillside town with a nice beach, I was really excited!

Sperlonga is located on the Tyrrhenian Sea and is most known for the ancient villa and grotto, or cave, that was occupied by the second Roman emperor, Tiberius. How cool it was to see Roman ruins, a cave, and the ocean altogether!

It was so fun exploring the beautiful white narrow paths, and the girls had so much fun playing in the sand! One of my favorite things was watching the girls run and dig and play and look for shells on the beach. It reminds me that they are still little and I need to cherish these moments with them.

And I’m always amazed at God’s creation when I’m at the beach. God is good and He gave us another great day!

For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. - Psalm 95:3-5 (NIV)
