Day 14 | Another Walk Around Paris
Day 14, Paris—You never know what you’ll see when you walk out the door. Our excursion started with a pack of about 150 rollerbladers gliding down the street. I’m not sure why they were together but it was fun to watch!
Here’s a list of what else we saw today!
Place de la Bastille—This is a square in Paris where the Bastille prison stood until the storming of the Bastille and its subsequent physical destruction between 14 July 1789 and 14 July 1790 during the French Revolution. (from Wikipedia)
Place des Vosges—This is the oldest planned square in Paris and is such a fun place to play and watch people. There were kids playing soccer, families going on walks, a street performer...it had such a happy and calm atmosphere.
The Paris Opera—This is the main ballet and opera place in France. Normally you can go inside and walk around, but there was a show going on when we were there so we just enjoyed sitting on the front steps for a while.
One of my favorite things about experiencing new cities is taking in the general atmosphere. The buildings, the traffic, the people all give such a vibrant picture of the city, even without the major sites. Here are some of the “normal” places I enjoyed seeing today.
